We half liked it

Classic book of essays covering his family life, years as struggling artist working odd jobs, and, as the title suggests, his time in France and attempts to learn the language. Witty, self-deprecating. Sedaris' audiobooks recommended to get a sense of his personality.

Dietrich pays homage to the Florida area where he grew up. Each story is interesting and attention getting. Enjoyed every word.

We loved it

This book makes for a good read for a summer trip. You can breeze through it very quickly. I particularly recommend the audio book for hearing the author's narrative view. Well structured to draw reader into the author's anxiety/plight brought on by this friendship.

Another funny story featuring Miss Julia. This series is funny, touching, and just a good read.

Susan Wiggs does it again! A great story to get caught up in.

This is a great read that combines personal anecdotes with self-empowerment. Reminiscent of books like Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic (the author references Gilbert as a friend/mentor). Focuses a lot on parenting and on her relationship with wife Abby Wambach. Will probably make a lot more sense if you've read her previous book(s) first.
